Samir “Sam” G. Hanna, RPLS

President

In 1968, Samir "Sam" G. Hanna, RPLS received a B.S. in Engineering, Major in Surveying, from Cairo Polytechnic Institute in Cairo, Egypt, and arrived in the United States in 1970 as an immigrant. He became licensed as a Registered Professional Land Surveyor in Texas in 1975.

From 1977 to 1994, Mr. Hanna was Senior Vice President for a large national engineering firm with 15 offices in nine states. During this time, he was responsible for overseeing company-wide land and hydrographic survey operations and managing up to 300 personnel, including numerous Registered Professional Land Surveyors, and more than 50 survey field crews. Mr. Hanna worked directly with a diversified group of engineering, geological, natural science, and environmental professionals.

Mr. Hanna founded Surveying And Mapping, Inc. (SAM, Inc.) in 1994 and serves as its President. Under his direction, SAM, Inc. expanded its initial offering of Land Surveying services to include Digital Aerial Mapping (Photogrammetry), full‐service Subsurface Utility Engineering (SUE), Utility Coordination and Geographic Information System (GIS) services. Mr. Hanna's philosophy of recruiting the best people and providing the most advanced equipment and training maximizes the firm's efficiency. With the firm's focus on quality of work and customer service, he personally guides the company's methodology and approach to delivering services. He also participates directly in quality control and troubleshooting, including developing solutions to unique problems.

Mr. Hanna has been practicing Land Surveying for over 30 years. His experience includes projects with private and public sectors, including local, state, and federal governments. He has international experience in both Mexico and Egypt. His experience also includes six years in the U.S. Army Reserve as Chief Construction Surveyor. He is currently a member of numerous professional associations including American Congress on Surveying and Mapping, Texas Society of Professional Surveyors, American Society of Photogrammetry and Remote Sensing (ASPRS), Management Association for Private Photogrammetric Surveying (MAPPS), Texas Council of Engineering Companies, and International Right of Way Association.


Michael R. Hatcher, RPLS

Sr. Vice President, Principal

Mr. Hatcher has been licensed as a Registered Professional Land Surveyor in Texas since 1984. He has a broad range of experience in the field of surveying throughout Texas, including boundary surveys, land subdivisions, oil field surveying and well location, and route surveying for major utility transmission and distribution facilities.

Mr. Hatcher's main area of focus in recent years has been in the management of SAM, Inc.'s consultant surveying contracts in support of both right‐of‐way acquisition and engineering design of major roadway and freeway facilities. He has managed contracts in the Austin, Bryan, El Paso, and San Antonio Districts of the Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) for many years. In addition to these contracts, Mr. Hatcher has been the leader for SAM, Inc.'s teaming with engineering firms that provide consulting services throughout the State. He has successfully managed work under public contracts for over 20 years. He is currently a member of numerous professional associations including Texas Society of Professional Surveyors, Texas Council of Engineering Companies, and International Right of Way Association.


Coleman Cunningham

Sr. Vice President, Principal

Mr. Cunningham has over 30 years of experience in various aspects of surveying including boundary surveys, retracement surveys, topographic surveys, oil well locations, construction layout, route surveys, horizontal and vertical control networks for photogrammetric surveys, as‐built surveys and subsurface utility surveys. He holds memberships with of the Associated General Contractors of America (ACG) and Austin Contractors and Engineers Association (ACEA).

Mr. Cunningham is presently the Principal-In-Charge of SAM, Inc.’s construction staking department and subsurface utility engineering surveys, and has overall supervision of all field operations for the firm. He is involved in business development for electric transmission, construction, and SUE clients. Recent projects include a 215 mile private electric transmission line project, Texas Veteran Land Board surveys, several roadway and utility layout projects, construction staking and subsurface utility surveys.


Christopher M. Solomon, RPLS

Vice President, Principal

Mr. Solomon has more than 21 years of experience in land surveying, successfully delivering projects relating to oil and gas facilities, roadways, bridges, drainage facilities, electrical facilities, water and wastewater facilities, dams, railroads, airports, parks, commercial, industrial and master planned communities. He currently manages a team of registered professional land surveyors, technicians, and field crews working on oil and gas pipelines and well field projects.

Mr. Solomon is responsible for business development for SAM, Inc.’s oil and gas and local governmental clients. This includes existing and potential clients, and assuring client satisfaction. In addition, Mr. Solomon is responsible for directing and supervising the staff assigned to his projects, managing, scheduling, budgeting, planning, subcontracting, and review of final products.


S. Keith McNease, RPLS, PLS, CP

Vice President, Principal

Mr. McNease has over 25 years of extensive land surveying and aerial mapping experience. He is a graduate from the University of Houston with a B.S. in Surveying and Mapping, and is a licensed professional surveyor in Texas, New Mexico, Oklahoma, Arkansas, and Louisiana; a licensed photogrammetric surveyor in South Carolina; and an ASPRS Certified Photogrammetrist. He is also an active member of many professional organizations, including ASPRS, MAPPS, SAME and TSPS.

Mr. McNease is the Principal In Charge of Geospatial Services and oversees our mobile mapping and photogrammetry/LiDAR services. He is also responsible for business development for SAM, Inc.’s electric utility and wind energy clients, various electric co‐operatives and electrical engineering firms. He has experience with electric transmission projects from the regulatory phase all the way through design, right-of-way acquisition, and construction, as well as with various types of energy generation facilities including wind, coal and electric substations.


Patrick R. Via, PE

Principal

Mr. Via has over 30 years of experience, including 20+ years in Civil Engineering related to streets, drainage, water and wastewater, design, and construction administration. He has more than a decade of experience in Subsurface Utility Engineering (SUE), requiring the identification, location and mapping of existing utilities. Mr. Via developed and managed the SUE services for the SAM, Inc. Austin, Texas office in 1998. As Engineering Department Manager of SAM, Inc., Mr. Via is actively involved in providing SUE and Utility Coordination services to the firm’s public and private sector clients throughout the state.


Robert J. Roy, RPLS

Principal

Mr. Roy has over 29 years of surveying, construction and project management experience in both the public and private sectors. As Principal and Senior Project Manager with the firm, Mr. Roy is Principal-In-Charge for all continuing service contracts with TxDOT, and subconsultant work on all roadway transportation projects. Recent projects include several large‐scale right‐of‐way surveys and highway design surveys in support of contracts with TxDOT, boundary surveys, topographic surveys, engineering design surveys and construction layout projects. Mr. Roy is responsible for business development and client maintenance for SAM, Inc.‘s roadway and engineering clients. He also provides operational support for the land surveying and mobile mapping departments, including directing and supervising the staff, managing, scheduling, budgeting, planning, subcontracting, and review of final products.
